An in-house tool and die shop in Ontario, since 1979.
Progressive, transfer and hand-transfer dies.
Clover Tool started as a tool and die shop in Concord (Toronto / GTA) in 1979. The tool room still designs and builds progressive, mechanical-transfer and hand-transfer dies, prototype tooling and weld fixtures, and tries every die out on the production press it will run on.
Tool & Die Build
Full in-house tool and die shop — Clover started here in 1979 and never stopped.
Clover Tool was founded as a tool and die shop and remains a full-service tool builder today. We design and build progressive dies, mechanical-transfer dies, hand-transfer dies, prototype tooling and weld fixtures in-house, with AutoForm forming simulation before any steel is cut. We build for our own presses and, when timing helps a program, for customer production lines. Rapid try-out on the same press the production tool will run on. Calibrated CMM and scanning-arm inspection on every die. The tool room handles repair, retro-fit and engineering changes for tools that have been in service for decades.

The questions buyers and program engineers usually open with. Anything else, ask us directly.
Do you design and build your own tooling?
Yes. Clover started as a tool and die shop in Concord in 1979 and still designs and builds progressive, mechanical-transfer and hand-transfer dies, prototype tooling and weld fixtures in-house, with wire EDM and tool-room CNC machining. Try-out happens on the production press the tool will run on.
Will you build dies for a customer’s own press line?
Yes, when the timing helps a program. The tool room builds for Clover’s own presses and, when it fits, for customer production lines. Every die is checked with calibrated CMM and scanning-arm inspection.
Do you simulate forming before building a die?
Yes. Dies are designed in-house with AutoForm forming simulation, which predicts how the part will form, thin and spring back before any steel is cut. The die is then built in our tool room, tried out on the production press it will run on, and checked with CMM and scanning-arm inspection.
Can you build prototypes before production tooling?
Yes. The tool room builds prototype tooling and runs in-house prototyping, with rapid try-out on the production presses the final dies will run on.
How long does it take to launch a new program?
It depends on the part, the tooling and the volumes, so we quote timing program by program. Die design, tool build, try-out and production all happen under one roof, which keeps engineering changes and try-out off outside vendors’ schedules and gets programs running as quickly as possible.
Can you repair or re-engineer existing dies?
Yes. The tool room handles repair, retro-fit and engineering changes, including on tools that have been in service for decades. Because the work is in-house, engineering changes turn around in days, not weeks.
